CentrePoint Shopping Centre

Site Area: 8,471 sqm

Building Type: Shopping / Entertainment

Building Height: 6 Storey + 2 Basement

Gross Floor Area: 45,543 sqm

The main architectural design approach for the addition and alteration to Centrepoint is to enhance shoppers’ approach to the mall and provide a different perception of the spatial order within.

Spatial Transformation

To achieve this, the facade on the 1st storey is opened up to reveal the basements creating a new atrium at the entrance. The revamped first storey frontage boosts an open concept plaza flaked by popular fashion shops and eateries.

The openness of the space blurs the boundaries between the external and interior spaces as shoppers feast on the merchandise in full view from the street level. In the internal spaces of the mall, former mini-anchor tenant spaces are reconfigured to enhance connectivity within the mall and aims to draw and compel shoppers to discover and experience the space.

Architectural Revolution

An attempt to transform the existing banal facade with a bold statement that imposes a new aesthetic of architecture and creating new destinations. A new design approach to reorder the idea of constructed retail space with the notion of bringing movement into the architecture, a way of exploring the technique of double curves. Tapping into the contemporary urban experience and everything associated with it, juxtapose the layers of change, chaos and transformation into a piece of contemporary art.
