The interior retrofitting has given the opportunity for East 9 to transform the existing old Song Heng Association into a heritage gallery illustrating the historical journey of Song Heng Association’s formation and development in Singapore. The existing functional uses were integrated into the heritage gallery.

Old
Meets New

The entire Song Heng Association’s historical timeline was translated and categorised into 5 phases Uprooted From Hometown, Period of Hardship, Settlement, Giving Back to Society, and Plan For The Future.  A combination of graphical and installation art approach has been adopted to tangibly transform the information into a visually engaging design.

Art & Architecture

A mixture of Chinese traditional objects and historical images/photos were used to create the montage of illustration. The design is a manifestation of Song Heng Association’s history into a heritage gallery.
